Lock up in a week?

By the end of day 3 we had the trusses up! Yes our new system of off-site fabrication of open wall panels with windows and cladding pre-installed was a success. Despite a cold snap at the end of spring we pressed on with the installation of one of our new panelised homes. With the frame and cladding completed by the end of week one we

Tra & Teknik

At Tra & Teknik 2016 in Gothenburg saw some fabulous examples of innovative and efficient use of wood in construction... as the Scandinavians know how to do. A bit of kerfing from prototype to reality. Structural timbers with insulating properties. 'Pick-up-sticks' at the speakers stage.

Carbon + classroom

We have been asked to develop a model for a carbon positive classroom. The ideas are rolling... We know timber will be a major contributor to minimising carbon footprint in construction. As will incorporation of renewables and maybe user-generated power... stay tuned!

Somers build

The new house in Somers has started construction. Sometimes we have to go a bit 'old-school' for the best outcome. A great build on the Mornington Peninsula maximising a north facing orientation and providing a family home to last a lifetime. A couple of 3D snapshots of how the finished product will look.   We'll do a full report at the end of the job.

“Twelve of the best…”

Fairweather Homes has been working in the field of off site and modular construction for decades. Macleod continued…

The rain came at the beginning of day 2... so after a slow start we pressed on with the upper level. Floor cassettes arrived for a speedy installation. Followed by the upper level walls.
